The weather has finally turned and we can start to celebrate all the important milestones and accomplishments of our lab outside again (and socially distant). We started by going out for ice cream to celebrate Katie’s acceptance to the Pharmacology Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship to continue her work on the RAD51 paralogs this summer!
Although we had to stop our research activities, we managed to keep in touch and have virtual lab meetings.
The girls got a tour of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. They learned about the cutting-edge work happening locally to understand and fight cancer. They met some of the inspiring women and scientific leaders who are actively working to understand mechanisms of cancer development and creating novel therapies for cancer patients. It was a fun experience for everyone.
We had a busy summer which included a major lab cleaning. Check out our amazingly clean benches and our best before and after photo.
