Our undergraduate researcher, Isabela Contreras, was awarded TWO competitive fellowships for her work on the Rad51 paralogs and the Shu complex. The first one Basser Summer Scholars Program from the Basser Center for BRCA related research will fund Isabela's research this summer in the lab. The second award is the Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society Undergraduate Scholarship, which will enable Isabela to present her findings at the Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society annual meeting in Chicago and pays for some laboratory suppies.
Pictured is us celebrating with Isabela and also with Adeola Fagunloye, who has been a terrific mentor. We were finally able to celebrate summer in style with a lab outing to the 'burbs with good food and good company.
